• Q: Can I get replacement pads?

• Q: Why won’t a 5+ helmet fit my 5-year old?
  The age on the packaging is a suggested age, based on the average head size of a person that age. It is ok to go up or down to the next age to find a helmet that fits.
• Q: How long is the helmet good for? Is there an expiration date?
  a. Replace the helmet immediately after one crash.
  b. Replace your helmet immediately if it shows any visible signs of damage.
  c. Bell recommends you replace your helmet every three years, even if you have not crashed.
  
• Q: How do I change the fit system?
  You cannot change out the fit system of your helmet. If you need help adjusting the fit system, please refer to the helmet manual. It will walk you through the necessary steps to properly fit your helmet onto your head.
• Q: How should I measure to get a good fit for my helmet?
  Use a fabric tape measure to get an accurate measurement. Place the tape measure two fingers above your eyebrows and wrap it all the way around your head (the way a hat would sit on top of it) to determine the circumference.
• Q: Where should I store my helmet?
  You should store your helmet in a cool, dry place.
• Q: What is the difference between a standard bicycle helmet and a multi-sport helmet?
  The standard style bicycle helmet is primarily used when riding bicycles and tricycles. It is certified to the government-mandated CPSC standard. The multi-sport helmet is used in several activities such as in-line skating, skateboarding and bike riding. These helmets are CPSC and ASTM-1492 certified. Please note that “multi-sport” is not the same as “multi-impact.” Neither helmet should be used for riding motor vehicles
• Q: Are bicycle helmets effective in preventing death and head injuries?
  Impact forces, even in common low speed accidents, can result in serious injury or death, even when a helmet is worn. Helmets can’t prevent all head injuries. The brain can be injured through rotational motions, which helmets cannot prevent. A helmet can only help protect what it covers. Wearing a CPSC-approved bicycle helmet significantly reduces the risk of head injury during a crash or collision.
• Q: Does this helmet fit as well as it should?
  a. The rim of the helmet should be two finger widths above the eyebrows. The side straps should join at a point slightly below and in front of the ears forming a “V” under the earlobe. Always wear the helmet with the chin-strap buckle fastened and the strap pulled tight. Make sure the strap is against the throat, NOT on the point of the chin. Make sure the buckle is flush against the skin under the chin, and that when you open your mouth it is snug on the chin and hugging your head. You should be able to fit two fingers under your chin, between the strap and skin.
  b. Before using the helmet stand in front of a mirror, grab the helmet with both hands, and twist it to the left and to the right. If the helmet fits right, the skin on the forehead will move as the helmet moves. If the skin doesn’t move, the helmet is too loose and is unsafe. Grab the helmet with both hands and try to remove it by rolling the helmet forward and backward. If you can roll it off the head completely — or so far forward that it blocks vision or backward that it exposes the forehead — then it doesn’t fit properly t and is unsafe.
